Planet Earth

As part of my really nice Christmas haul, I was lucky enough to get the full box DVD set of Planet Earth. For anybody that mildly likes nature documentaries, or just appreciates absolutely spectacular camera work and production - go and buy this right now. I mean right now.

Honestly, this has to possibly be the best nature documentary that the BBC has ever produced, with a completely unprecedented amount of effort put into every shot. The fact that a camera crew spent the best part of three years just for 10 minutes of footage is absolutely unbelievable. Everything, from the timelapse footage to the amazing aerial shots is just perfect. Plus, the down-sampling from HD makes SD look much better than usual.

I thought the Blue Planet was good, but this makes it look like I shot it using the cheapest Hi-8 camera on the market today. It makes the stuff that I shoot on here look like a three-year old who has been let loose with a 35mm camera. I’m only two episodes in - absolutely can’t wait to see the second half of the series.
